Ensuring safety with the top 5 asbestos removal services in Dublin
A more recent development over the past two decades is the need to remove all parts of the house that contain asbestos. Asbestos is an incredibly hazardous substance, and most homeowners, like myself, want it removed from their homes.
As someone who has had to go through the experience of having asbestos removed from my home, I know how stressful it can be to find a good service.
So, I did the legwork. I’ve pooled this list from the ones that I’ve worked with. And if you’re tangled in the same problem, you can start with our list of the top asbestos removal services in Dublin.
How much does asbestos removal cost in Dublin?
Asbestos removal in Dublin typically costs between €1,500 and €3,000. However, the price will depend on the type of asbestos that is in your home, the complexity of how it can be removed, and the size of the project itself.
1. Asbestos Transport

Address: 44A Moyle Rd, Dublin Industrial Estate, Dublin, D11 CA34, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 87 245 3676
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Asbestos Transport has been performing this service for 15 years and is well-established in Dublin.
I like that they provide this service for both commercial and residential clients, and they seem to have quite a good reputation among their clients.
Before they do any work, they conduct an asbestos survey. However, this survey isn’t free. But I like that they are quite thorough with it and use state-of-the-art technology.
As for their removal service, they cater to garages, sheds, gutters, roofs, and boilers/boiler houses for residential buildings.
When it comes to commercial, they provide removals for warehouse roofs, school roofs, water pipes, and typically all materials containing asbestos.
I find it reassuring that they provide proof of disposal, as well as certifications for their clients. They also conduct post-service tests to determine if any asbestos remains in the air.
However, they don’t provide a clear process for how they undergo removal. There have also been mentions from clients about their process being lengthier compared to others.

Contact Details: +353 1 832 6292
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Harrington Asbestos Removal has been in Dublin for over 40 years and is quite experienced with regard to asbestos removal.
I am at ease knowing that they’re an OPW-approved business with ARCA Site Audit Accreditation. You’ll also find that they’re a business with proper asbestos insurance, so you should be safe in working with them.
I found it quite noteworthy that they’ve covered a range of commercial and industrial buildings. From factories to schools to hospitals, they seem to be quite experienced in this field.
As for their process, they split this down into three parts. For the initial surveys, they use an HSG 264 test with the help of accredited laboratories to properly survey the damage and extent of the asbestos.
Then, they begin the removal of asbestos. Depending on the type, they have specific methods for roof, floor, and ceiling removals.
Lastly, they dispose of the asbestos and work closely with accredited waste disposal companies to properly dispose of it. They also provide a Waste Transfer Form to the owners.
However, a few clients reported poor customer service.
Really helpful and always responded to emails/queries quickly
“Harringtons have made arranging the removal of an asbestos roof and replacement roof on my mother’s garage so easy and straightforward. Gavin was really helpful and always responded to emails/queries quickly. The guys that did the work were great. Very friendly but worked hard to complete the entire job over two days. My mother is delighted with the new roof. Can’t thank them all enough.”

3. Celtic Asbestos Consultancy

Contact Details: +353 1 832 3547
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
For a science-based approach, Celtic Asbestos Consultancy might be the service for you.
Their asbestos survey inspections utilise HSG 264 testing, and I’m glad that they offer four different survey types tailored to your project’s specific needs.
These are the Asbestos Management Survey, Re-Inspection Survey, Pre-Refurbishment Survey, and Pre-Demolition Survey. Based on experience, they tend to use a combination of these surveys.
Aside from the usual testing, they also do the initial samples at a laboratory testing that is done in Ireland and the UK. They claim to use both results to have a better understanding of each project.
As for the removal process, it’s nothing noteworthy, as they follow proper regulations regarding removal and disposal.
Their post-assessment phase is very comprehensive. They do the 4 Stage Clearance Test, Personnel Air Monitoring Test, and Leak Air Test. These tests the area after the clearout to see if the asbestos levels are low enough to allow people back inside the buildings.
However, due to the myriad of tests that they provide, they’re a bit more expensive than any typical asbestos removal company.

4. Robert McGuinness Asbestos Removal

Address: Oldbawn Cottage, Drogheda St, Bremore, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, K32 D268, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 86 845 6022
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Robert of Robert McGuinness Asbestos Removal provides an affordable option for those looking for small-scale asbestos removal.
Unlike other companies, he’s typically the only person you’ll get to interact with. Despite this, he offers a wide range of services compared to competitors who have dedicated teams.
He specialises in the removal of corrugated sheets, floor grinding, downpipe, flue pipes, and gutter removal. I also like that he’s great at handling confined spaces.
Another thing that drew me in was his environmental cleaning after each step of the process. He claims that this removes traces of asbestos that might not have been removed during the disposal process.
While he claims to work for commercial and industrial clients, the testimonials I saw indicate that these were small projects rather than large-scale removals.
Aside from these, he also offers surveying and air monitoring services. While these aren’t as high-tech as other companies, they were still regulated tests that the city acknowledges.
He also serves as his own certified collection service, with over 5 years of experience. Robert even showed me the permit for it that was given by the city hall, which is reassuring.

5. D. Hennessy Roofing

Address: Flat 1, Botanic, Dublin 9, D09 CX33, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 1 830 4004
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
D. Hennessy Roofing specialises in the removal and replacement of roofs riddled with asbestos.
What’s great about them is that they provide free quotations and inspections from their certified asbestos removal experts.
I found it quite interesting that they have a great understanding of the different types of asbestos that can be found on roofs and have dedicated solutions for crocidolite, chrysotile, and amosite asbestos.
I was also assured by the fact that they’re a service that is part of the National Guild of Master Craftsmen, which is no small feat.
The father and son team of Liam and Darren, previous and current owners of the business, also told me that they provide services for all of Dublin County.
They are also great at providing proper certification concerning the disposal of asbestos. After clearing everything out with the National Waste Collection Permit Office, they present you with the certification before the job is done.
However, if your project has asbestos anywhere else aside from the roof, I suggest looking for a different contractor, as they only work on roofs.
Very high standard
“Very happy with the job done. Darren came recommended and called out to check the roof quickly after I got in touch.
He did the work within a couple of weeks as promised, and it looks to be done to a very high standard. Highly recommend”
– Shay Ferris, Google Review
Absolute sounders
“Second time to call on the Hennessy crew. I already knew they were lads who knew their business, and I knew that they were absolutely golden to deal with. Polite, explaining the options, never pushy. And they don’t try to skull you for a bigger job. Absolute sounders. Only giving 5 stars because I can’t go higher.”
