I had quite a blast when I started decorating my new house a few years back. It was only when I fully moved in that I realised that my bedroom was quite exposed due to the large windows. Curtains weren’t cutting it, so I decided to go for some shutters instead.
I had been sceptical of shutters as I’d never actually had any before moving to my new place. However, after conducting some research, I discovered that they were sometimes even more stylish than curtains.

ShutterStyle has been providing its services for over 20 years, and they’re quite the popular choice for shutters in Dublin.
I like that they offer a few different options for shutters, but the main styles that they have are full-height, tier-on, and French doors, which are just the ones that caught my eye.
Aside from these, they also specialise in a unique type of shutter called the Irish 4-week shutter. Irish shutters are made of PVC, and they claim that the entire process from quotation to installation will only take 4 weeks.
I found their colour range to be extensive. They have options for minimalist, muted colours, to those more akin to wood.
Using their unique virtual shutters app was enjoyable, as it let me try out their shutters through my phone.
They are also one of the few places that work with people from across the country and have a reportedly decent process for warranties.
However, due to their popularity, it might take them days before they can respond to your initial quotation request.

Signature Blinds & Shutters claims to have one of the fastest shipping times for their products. With over 30 years of experience and numerous clients backing them, I can agree to that.
I like that their shutters are highly customisable compared to competitors. From the materials, styles, and finishes, I was able to have a shutter that’s truly bespoke and is uniquely your own.
As for the costs, they are transparent about this. Each of your windows is unique, and the price will depend on its measurement and the design of your choice.
They are also quite honest about the timeframe of their service, claiming to have between 9 and 12 weeks for the whole process. It’s slower than other companies, but this is due to the uniqueness of their service.
I found it quite handy that they also bring shutters to your home for consultation, which is great for those wanting a hands-on feel before committing to anything.

Unlike other shutter shops, New Hampshire Interiors’ service extends far beyond your windows. Their unique offering to the table is that they also specialise in radiator cabinets and wall panelling.
The shutter that they use is their plantation-style shutter. I find this disappointing, as while these are the most durable and most popular, they’re also the simplest type of shutters available on the market.
Their plantation-style shutters come in various designs, including cafe-style shutters, French doors, and the unique bi-folding shutters.
I admire that they really stretch the limits on how they could use this specific design, catering to the strengths of every house they handle.
Aside from these, they offer either a painted or wood-stained finish for shutters. These come in a wide range of colours or varnishes for you to choose from.
It’s also nice knowing that they sell different types of rods you can use on your shutters. They have a total of 4 different types of rods, but the one that stands out is the hidden tilt, as it gives the most ambient light to a room.

They really transform a room and they have the added benefit of providing some insulation in winter when windows can feel very cold. I love that I can do away with curtains now. For those looking for a family-owned company, Shutters of Ireland might be the one for you. They’ve been working in the shutter industry since 2002 and have made a name for themselves since.
What stood out to me is their claim to be one of the few services that provide the highest quality in terms of value and service.
I found it quite useful that they provide a complimentary survey appointment after your initial quotation, and they will then send a more accurate quotation after the appointment.
I also liked that they’re a service that installs the shutters for you rather than simply selling them.
Many of their clients also claim that they’re good at measurements. They can easily create a custom-sized shutter for you, which is perfect for those with bespoke windows.
However, I am a bit disappointed by the range of their styles, with only 6 different ones. Regardless, these are designed specifically for plantation shutters, which are the most durable and stylish type.

Sienna Shutters is an affordable option for those looking to have bespoke shutters installed. Despite the affordability, they are quite good at creating shutters that look great instead of looking cheap.
I was attracted by their special type of material for these shutters called Poly Vinyl Silk, which is durable and easier to clean.
They have 7 different designs that can be changed to look either modern, timeless, or classic, whichever one you’d prefer.
Aside from their unique material, they also have solid wood, MDF, and solid PVC with aluminium.
Aside from that, I like that they check each shutter before it’s shipped out to you.
What’s handy about their services is that they’re also a blinds shop. They install pergolas and awnings, which is a service you wouldn’t expect from a shutter shop.
However, some have reported minor faults with products. This is to be expected considering they’re significantly cheaper than their competitors.
