Getting a tattoo is a very personal decision, whether you’re marking a special memory, collecting another piece, or finally committing to a design you’ve had in mind for years.
Finding the right tattoo studios in Dublin means looking beyond attractive portfolios to consider the artist’s speciality, hygiene practices, booking rules and how easy it is to get an appointment.

I’m coming back for more
I love all the peeps at Good Trouble, lovely service, good vibes and reasonable prices. Mar is the G.O.A.T, we had great conversation and they were so gentle with me that I fell asleep while getting the tattoo. Love these guys and I’m coming back for more!!!

Wide range of artists
Great tattoo shop
This is such a great tattoo shop! Clean, friendly, and really quick to get you signed! Props to my tattoo artist, Lulli, who was able to fit me in for a walk-in pretty last minute. Her work is amazing and I was so happy to get tattooed by her while on holiday in Dublin. Cannot recommend enough!

2. Skin City Tattoo Dublin

Website: https://skincitytattoodublin.ie/
Address: 4 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1
Contact: +353 85 1420 866
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00 – 7:00 PM
Skin City Tattoo is an established Dublin studio with a notable artist roster. They work extensively on larger colour and black-and-grey pieces, drawing on Japanese, realism, surrealism, fantasy and comic-book influences.
If you want names, remember that Sandra specialises in black-and-grey realism. Dhara offers realism, fine line, blackwork and neotraditional work, while Nadja is known for a dark, delicate approach with dark-fantasy realism among her favourites.
The range of their artists makes this studio worth considering when you’re comparing artists rather than simply looking for a generic tattoo shop.
We like that they make the custom process fairly clear. Their minimum charge is €80, while consultations and custom design preparation are included in the price when you’re quoted.
Keep in mind that this shop is right at the heart of Dublin city centre, so getting in and out of the area might be difficult during peak hours.

100% recommend
I have the up most respect for Skin City, my girl Nadja is my tattooist for life, she just gets me! I’ll get a couple of bits and pieces from other tattoo artists that I love but I’ll always go back to her for the bulk of the work because she takes all of my ideas and makes them so much better. Skin City is so chill and all the artists and previous artists are extremely creative legends and inspirations. I 100% recommend dropping into Skin City if you want some banging pieces that are specifically tailored to you ✌🏻❤️

Amazing experience
I came here for a tattoo in 2019, with a specific design– had an amazing experience. I returned in 2025 for a cover up of a different, older tattoo because I was so happy/impressed with my previous experience, that I knew Mark + Skin City could do the job. I love not only the work they do, but the friendly and personable way they treat everyone. I recommend them to everyone seeking an artful tattoo in Dublin.

Address: 11 Parnell Street, North City
Contact: +353 1 561 5663
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
The Black Hat Tattoo brings together resident and guest artists, allowing clients to compare portfolios before choosing someone whose speciality fits the project.
They’re housing artists who specialise in fine line, realism, portraits, black and grey, colour work and more, while some do traditional tattooing too.
If you’re uncertain about which direction to go, free consultations are available as the studio encourages clients to discuss their project with an artist before committing.
Moreover, we love how polite the whole team is! The artists have a wide smile on their faces, plus lively greetings the moment you enter their studio.
Once you’ve had the discussion, though, take note that the artist may not send you the design before your appointment.

Absolutely love my little tattoo
Matias was absolutely brilliant! I was nervous for my first tattoo and I saw they did walk in appointments and decided to just go for it. He was so quick, calming and very friendly. I absolutely love my little tattoo and would not hesitate to make the journey from Belfast down to Dublin to have Matias do my next tattoo!
Thank you to everyone at Black Hat Tattoos ☺️

4. XOXO Tattoo Studio Dublin

Website: https://xoxotattoo.ie/
Address: 112 Capel Street
Contact: +353 (0) 83 812 6727
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
XOXO Tattoo Studio sits on Capel Street and specialises in fine line, micro-realism, custom and flash work. Their portfolio also covers black and grey, traditional, realism and botanical designs.
Moreover, their listed artists include specialists in custom black and grey, fine line, anime and realism. They do all this while using only 100% vegan ink and offering a free one-time touch-up.
In fact, a friend was looking for a small piece while visiting Dublin. The studio’s combination of flash and walk-in availability made the process particularly convenient.
Just a heads up: they have fewer artists in their roster, which means they have a very limited number of appointment slots to go around.

Couldn’t be happier
Got a tattoo here last Friday and I honestly love it so much. It’s on my ribs under my left arm and it turned out even better than I imagined. I’ve already had so many compliments on it and people keep asking where I got it done.
Everyone was so friendly and welcoming from the minute I walked in, and they really made me feel at ease throughout the whole appointment. The artist did an amazing job and made the experience so comfortable.
Couldn’t be happier with my tattoo and I’ll definitely be back for another one. Thanks again! 🤍🤍

Christine made a very good job. She made the tattoo exactly as I wanted it. She asked for my opinion and how I want it. I really like her work. She was very nice and I liked to chat with her. I am very happy and would like to come again. The studio was very clean and everyone was so kind. I felt really welcomed there. I really can recommend the XOXO.

5. Heartbreak Social Club

Website: https://www.heartbreaksocialclub.ink/
Address: 25 Drury Street
Contact: 01-6799496
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Heartbreak Social Club keeps bookings flexible, taking scheduled appointments in advance while also welcoming walk-ins whenever space allows. Walk-ins run on a first-come, first-served basis, so there’s no harm visiting on the off chance a slot is free.
Their artists work across contemporary styles, neo-traditional, illustrative, fine line, black and grey traditional, and bold colour pieces.
For their location, the studio is genuinely easy to reach on foot or by public transport, and they’re open seven days. That kind of daily availability makes it easy to fit a visit around an already busy day out in the city.
Unfortunately, their location offers very little street parking, so anyone arriving by car will most likely need to find a nearby paid car park rather than pulling up right outside.

Oh my goodness what fabulously great people! From the minute we walked in the door we were met by the most gorgeous friendly receptionist. Then the artists who looked after us were incredibly friendly too, highly skilled and we are really delighted with our tattoos.
