The 5 best home rentals in Dublin that give you space and privacy

  • Variety of Locations: I selected home rental agencies that offer a diverse range of housing locations throughout Dublin. I wanted to have the option of either living near the city centre or out in the outer reaches of County Dublin.
  • Property Condition and Size: I selected agencies that offer a diverse range of property types. Those who provide properties in good condition that can accommodate more than one to two people were ranked higher than others.
  • Pricing of Monthly Rent: I sought home rentals that are transparent about their monthly rent.
  • Safety Compliance and Certifications: I selected home rentals that adhere to safety protocols. Those with up-to-date smoke detectors and fire plans were prioritised.
  • Lease Transparency: I picked agencies that have transparent leasing and contracts.

Before buying a house in Dublin, I rented. I used to scour newspapers and sketchy websites just to find good listings. While nostalgic, it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable experience, especially for those in their early twenties.

A few years later, I discovered house rental agencies, which proved to be a lifesaver. These legitimate companies connect renters with homeowners, making the process far smoother.

It wasn’t an easy feat, as finding a reliable one was quite challenging. However, through research and recommendations from friends, I’ve discovered the home rentals in Dublin that truly stand out from the rest.

How much does it cost to rent a house in Dublin?

Renting a house in Dublin typically costs between €1,465 and €2,500 per month. The primary factors influencing this are the number of bedrooms in a house and its location. Additionally, houses with more modern appliances and amenities will cost more.

City Break Apartments has one of the largest selections of apartments in Dublin City Centre. I was impressed that they cater to groups or families of 10. They offer personalised services and spacious units for everyone.

The process was easy. For a small fee of €45, I was able to send them my information and preferences, and they found an apartment for me within 15 minutes. The property was located near Grafton Street and was spacious.

Aside from families, they also work with corporate housing. These apartments are larger and typically located near public transportation. For a more unique approach, they also offer camper vans, which were not as cramped as I expected.

I also found their service to be great for concertgoers, offering a more comprehensive housing experience than other options, such as Airbnb.

However, they’re not the best choice for long-term stays, as most of their leases last only a few weeks.

Pros

  • Large selection of apartments in Dublin City Centre
  • Works with corporate housing
  • Offers apartments for concertgoers
  • Provides unique camper van housing

Cons

  • Doesn’t provide long-term housing

The apartment was perfect for a 4-day stay

“The apartment was perfect for a 4 days stay! Using the sofa bed we had basically 2 bedrooms … great bathroom.

Super swift and easy support from the host! Easy Check-In with smart key👌🏽

Location is in the heart of Temple Bar 😉

Smoker‘s terrace in the backyard.

Would strongly recommend this!”

The place was clean and in a perfect location

“It was my dad’s first time in Dublin, and we had such a great stay with City Break Apartments. The place was clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location. The staff were amazing — really helpful and kind, especially when we had questions or needed directions. It made the whole trip feel easy and welcoming. Would definitely stay again!”

Having served tourists and visitors for over 20 years, Your Home From Home is a great choice for those seeking some of the best spaces in Dublin. Many of their apartments are self-contained, and I found them to be spacious and modernised.

However, they have limited availability and choices for three-bedroom apartments compared to their one to two-bedroom counterparts.

Impressively, the apartment had already been cleaned the day before my arrival, which was very accommodating. Booking was straightforward, with options ranging from one to three bedrooms.

These are located near public transport and are equipped with internet services, which was great, especially when I spoke to clients who were new to Dublin. Additionally, a weekly maid service is available to clean the apartments during your stay.

Aside from that, they have 24-hour backup services in case you want to switch apartments. I also love their welcome pack that comes with tea and sweeteners.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • High-quality apartments
  • Easy and convenient booking
  • Locations are near public transport
  • Comes with internet services
  • Weekly maid services
  • 24-hour backup services

Cons

  • Limited availability and choices for three-bedroom apartments

Would book here again in a heartbeat

“I recently stayed at one of the Baggot Rath apartments. I can highly recommend a stay here. Clean, spacious, great transport links into the city.

I was met on arrival and shown around the apartment. Complimentary tea, coffee etc, clean towels, lovely clean fresh bedding.

There really was NO NEGATIVES about my stay!

Would book here again in a heart beat!”

Dublin At Home is ideal for travellers seeking to settle in Dublin for a couple of months. They require a minimum of 14 nights’ stay, and I found their locations convenient and easy to find.

They offer options ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms, each with 1 to 3 bathrooms. Most of their locations are south of Dublin City Centre, which I personally prefer because the rates are generally cheaper in that area.

These locations are also near public transport, which is a must for someone like me. Most amenities are provided, including toiletries and Wi-Fi, making the stay comfortable and hassle-free.

I would also recommend this company to anyone relocating, as well as to TV and film production crews, considering their affordable rates.

However, housekeeping and parking aren’t included in the base price.

Pros

  • Great for travellers
  • Located near public transport
  • Comes with toiletries and Wi-Fi
  • Great for TV and film crews
  • Accepts card payment

Cons

  • Doesn’t include housekeeping
  • Doesn’t include parking

The LUAS stop is just outside the building

“We stayed at an apartment in Cherrywood while waiting to close on a new build house. The apartment was clean, spacious and fully equipped with washer/dryer/kitchen utensils etc. The LUAS stop is just outside the building and there is a well stocked Tesco Express in the complex, as well as spaces for work, fitness and a Business Centre. We enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Dublin at Home.”

Appreciated the responsiveness of the team

“Had a great stay at the Woodward Square property. We stayed 16 days.

Perfect location right by the LUAS (tram) stop, making trips into the city a breeze. Beautifully kept apartment and super service. Appreciated the responsiveness of the team in helping us settle in. Check in and check out was seamless. Can’t recommend it highly enough! Will be back.”

Dublin Lettings has several locations in Dublin and is recognised as a reputable estate agent. With financial transparency leading the helm, I was impressed that they can accommodate most budgets when looking for apartments.

They have five apartment buildings to rent. I’ve discovered that most are either near Dublin City Centre or accessible by public transport.

My experience with letting with them is a 10-step process, but the most important parts are the viewings and maintenance & rent info. These provided me with a comprehensive guide to each apartment.

Unlike others, these are bare apartments that clients can design to their liking. But essential rooms, such as the kitchen and bathroom, do come equipped with the necessary appliances, including stoves and toilets, respectively.

The apartments also come in 1 to 4 bedrooms, with 1 to 4 bathrooms, to accommodate guests.

However, some clients have reported challenges when discussing lease extensions and navigating the end-of-tenancy process.

Pros

  • Financially transparent estate service
  • Most apartments are in Dublin City Centre
  • Offers a 10-step process when renting
  • Apartments are bare, with only essentials
  • Accommodates 1-4 people

Cons

  • Difficulty with lease extensions and end-of-tenancy

Quick to reply to any issues

“We were using Dublin Lettings for the last twenty years to manage our house that we had rented out when we moved country. They have always been quick to reply to any issues that arose and helped us work out cost effective solutions. Not being in the country ourselves meant we had to rely on them a lot and they were always available to help. I would definitely recommend them for managing any property you may have.”

– Bridget Fields, Google Review

They are one of the best

“I’ve been a tenant with Dublin Lettings for almost 4 years now, and I have to say – they are one of the best! The entire maintenance team and Maria at the front office have made living in Dublin such a breeze for us. They handle any maintenance work almost instantly and are extremely pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend going with Dublin Lettings for a hassle free experience whether you’re a tenant or a landlord.”

Unlike others, MyHome offers rental services for both apartments and houses. While most of these aren’t located near the city centre, they’re far cheaper than most places because of the location.

Additionally, I dealt with both private and company-side landlords when I rented here.

There’s a wide range of options when it comes to housing, from traditional homes to terraced houses. Most properties and apartments are fully furnished, though I found it easy to request the removal or replacement of furniture with my own.

These properties also include amenities like washing machines and dryers, so I didn’t need to buy one myself. I also found that most of these have central heating, which works wonders during the winter.

Meanwhile, smaller apartments are offered unfurnished. This can be ideal for those eager to personalise their space, but may be less suitable for budget-conscious individuals.

Getting around can be challenging without a car too, as many listings are located far from public transportation.

Pros

  • Offers houses and apartments
  • Cheaper rates
  • Comes with existing furniture
  • Works with private and company-side landlords

Cons

  • Far from public transport
  • Not located near Dublin City Centre

Better than other properties

“Better than daft for dublin property but daft are better fo the rest of the country though I find myhome a more user friendly website”
