These top 10 steakhouses in Dublin serve up pure tenderness and comfort
There’s truly nothing like Irish steaks. These grass-fed delicacies are some of the most flavourful, tender, and nutritious beef in the world. With such world-class steaks, you’re sure to find quite a few different steakhouses in the capital.
I can still fondly remember how aloof I was when I first tried steak in Dublin. It was at F.X. Buckley, and while I ordered the cheaper cut, I still fell in love with it. Since then, I’ve sworn to myself to try every single steakhouse in Dublin to find my perfect one.
So, as the self-imposed steak expert, I’ve gathered some of the best steakhouses in Dublin. Whether you’re pairing it with wine or Guinness, I’m sure you’ll find the right steakhouse for you.

When discussing steak in Dublin, F.X. Buckley is the premier steakhouse in the city. Under ‘The Buckley Collection’, F.X. Buckley specialises in premium-grade steaks that are juicy, tender, and packed with so much flavour.
What’s great about their steaks is that they’re heritage breeds, which means they’ve been cultivated to be as premium as possible. These are also 28-day dry-aged steaks, leading to a more concentrated flavour with hints of nuttiness and umami.
I tend to go for the rib-eye, which is served with either a pepper sauce, garlic sauce, or bone marrow juice. It’s packed with a lot of meat, and it’s served with a nice side of either mashed potatoes, chips, or salad.
| Pro Tip: F.X. Buckley’s has two other locations aside from this one. While this is the most visited, the other two tend to have fewer customers. If you’re having trouble booking a reservation, I suggest trying the Crow Street or Monkstown locations instead. |
2. The Bull & Castle

With leather seats, gorgeous paintings, and lovely red wooden walls, The Bull & Castle is another great choice, located in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Overlooking Christchurch, you’ll get the benefits of a steakhouse and an informal bar in one.
They’re a sister-restaurant of F.X. Buckley, and while they do have similarities in their menus, there’s still plenty to enjoy here. When heading here for lunch, a nice, filling, and refreshing meal is the beef fillet salad, which comes with Josper-roast beef and bulgur.
The main attraction for me when heading here is their Sunday Roast. You’ll enjoy a grand serving of steak accompanied by a side of freshly baked Yorkshire pudding, mash, duck fat roast potatoes, and other vegetables, paired with their signature Bloody Buckley cocktail.
| Pro Tip: For groups of 3 or more, I highly recommend trying their group menu. It comes with starters, mains, and desserts, accompanied by free beef dripping chips. It’s far cheaper than ordering everything à la carte. |

If you prefer a more private dining experience, FIRE Steakhouse and Bar is the perfect choice for you. They have private dining rooms on the first floor and a historically rich restaurant with unique red metal tree decorations that’ll surely leave an impact.
The main restaurant was built in 1864 and was once the supper room of the Lord Mayor. Since 2005, they’ve had a strong ethos of working with and supporting local Irish producers, while striving for sustainable practices in their restaurant.
I love dining here during weekend lunches, as they have a two-course or three-course option. I typically choose their oysters for my starter for something light. As for steaks, I’d recommend their Sirloin, as it pairs best with the pepper cream and the Pont Neuf chips.
| Pro Tip: I also love visiting here during Christmas, as they offer dedicated menus for lunch and dinner. They typically unveil a once-a-year cut of steak for this special occasion, and it’s something you wouldn’t want to miss. |

- Sunday: 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Pricing: €€€
Everyone knows the great Marco Pierre White. Located in Dublin City Centre, his signature steakhouse and grill showcases his most unique takes on classic dishes. This is all served with the choicest cuts of meat and the freshest produce.
The great thing about this restaurant is that they also specialise in seafood dishes. I tend to go for either the seared scallops or the dressed Castletownbere crab for my hors d’oeuvres. They’re a nice, light, and refreshing way to start a meal.
For the main course, I always go with the centre-cut fillet. It already comes with a side of beef drippings chips, but I also like to add creamed spinach and pickled onions, as these add a nice flavour that pairs well with the steak.
| Pro Tips: This one is one of the most popular restaurants on Dawson Street. I tend to book my reservations a week or two in advance, with a maximum of three days’ notice. |
5. Featherblade Steak Restaurant

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM | 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Friday: 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM | 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM
- Saturday: 12:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Sunday: 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Pricing: €
For a more affordable and casual experience, I’d like to introduce Featherblade. Being a fairly new steakhouse founded in 2014, they quickly established a name for themselves by offering exceptional grass-fed Irish steak to everyone.
Their decor is simple and rustic, with black and white brick walls and sturdy wooden chairs. The ambience of the place doesn’t feel like a classy restaurant, but more like a slightly more expensive diner that’s both cosy and comforting to dine at.
It’s the Featherblade Steak that made me fall in love with the place. It’s a nice beef shoulder that’s been seared to my liking, which is medium rare. I tend to have it with truffle mac and cheese and a nice miso glaze to give it a deeper umami flavour.
| Pro Tip: Featherblade also serves set meals, which are significantly cheaper than ordering à la carte. These set meals come with a starter, main course, side dish, sauce, and dessert, with an additional €6 for the striploin or a €9 upgrade for the ribeye. |
6. Hawksmoor

Address: 34 College Green, Dublin 2, D02 C850, Ireland

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM
- Friday to Saturday: 12:00 PM to 11:30 PM
- Sunday: 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Pricing: €€
Hawksmoor has that classy, elegant, and stylish decor that’s perfect for Instagram. But don’t be mistaken, despite that interior, they’re not as expensive as they look. What’s even greater is that their steaks are as great as their decor.
Sourcing their cattle from a small community of farmers across the entire country, their beef is top-notch and simply amazing. What truly makes Hawksmoor a unique experience is their incredible seafood, which is fresh and pairs well with steak.
I like to start my evening here with half a native lobster, which is served with some garlic butter that’s simply irresistible. As for my steak, I tend to go for the rump, as it’s a lean cut that’s big enough for you to share with another person.
| Pro Tip: If dining with an intimate group of friends or close officemates, they have a private dining experience that’ll top any other steakhouse at this price point. It comes with a drinks package, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy yourself. |
7. Hellfire

Website: https://www.hellfire.ie

Address: 7 Westmoreland St, Temple Bar, Dublin, D02 XF76, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 1 484 5015
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Friday: 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Saturday: 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Pricing: €€
Hellfire cooks up devilishly great dishes with divine taste. The main motif of the steakhouse is cooking food with passion and bite, and they’re certainly great at delivering on that with their charcoal-grilled steaks.
The highlight of Hellfire is their drinks. With an extensive list of wines, it’s hard to choose which one to pick. My personal favourite when dining here has to be the La Fleur Renaissance Sauternes 2019, as its complex sweetness is truly a devious drink.
I tend to go for the Striploin when dining at Hellfire, as I absolutely adore the rich and creamy pink pepper parmesan sauce. It comes with a side of chimichurri fries, which have a nice zesty flavour, and a refreshing and simple side salad.
| Pro Tip: If you want to be pampered with great service, I’d suggest asking for Andrea to be your waitress. She’s kind, bubbly, and gives great advice if you’re struggling to choose. She also introduced me to my favourite devious drink. |
8. Ryleigh’s Rooftop Steakhouse

Nothing beats seeing the Dublin skyline, and dining while taking in the view is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. I already love staying at the Mayson for those quick vacations, but Ryleigh’s is the reason I keep coming back.
Unlike other steakhouses, Ryleigh’s offers a breakfast menu. While there isn’t any steak here, it’s still a great selection of breakfast items. I like to splurge a bit and go for the Full Irish Breakfast, but that’s just me wanting to indulge in the view while I eat.
I’d suggest heading here for dinner, as I prefer their dinner menu. I like to start with the Confit Duck Leg, which simply falls off the bone. As for my steak, delmonico is my choice. It’s tender and has an exceptional flavour, and pairs well with wild mushrooms.
| Pro Tip: Although Ryleigh’s is a hotel restaurant, I highly recommend booking in advance. Even their breakfast slots are quite limited, so making a reservation at your earliest convenience is a must when dining here. |
9. The Millstone Restaurant

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/millstonerestaurant
Address: 39 Dame St, Dublin, D02 VX43, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 1 679 9931
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday: 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM
- Friday to Saturday: 11:30 AM to 10:15 PM
Pricing: €
Heading over to Dame Street, I’m quite fond of The Millstone Restaurant. Serving Dublin for over two decades, I still fall in love with its old-world Victorian exterior, and it’s become a favourite for those looking for cheap, yet quality steak.
I love this place for its steak, but it’s also a great option when dining with a friend who has Coeliac. They have a dedicated menu for them. All the dishes on this menu still taste wonderful, even though they are gluten-free, which is quite rare in Dublin.
I tend to opt for the starter and main course combo. I love pairing their crispy calamari with the tangy pickled tartar sauce. For my steak, I like their prime fillet, as it’s a simple cut that has great marbling and is quite lean.
| Pro Tip: I’d highly recommend heading here if you have a large group. Their 3-course meal is only €37.95 per person, and you get so much food that you’ll end up leaving with quite a few leftover boxes. |
10. Brookwood
– Media credit: Brookwood Instagram
Website: https://www.brookwooddublin.com
Address: 141 Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2, D02 KP64, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 1 661 9366
Operating Hours:
- Monday: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Tuesday to Friday: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM | 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Saturday: 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Sunday: 1:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Pricing: €€
Brookwood is a hidden gem in my eyes. They’re a classic restaurant with typical decor and a contemporary facade. Despite that, I find myself coming back here often as I can have great steaks and a cosy dining experience without worrying about reservations.
There are two reasons why you’d head to Brookwood: Tomahawk Tuesdays and Sunday Roasts. I gravitate towards Brookwood during Tomahawk Tuesdays because I can get a nicely roasted tomahawk with a side of fries and a bottle of red wine for only €99.
While Tomahawk Tuesdays are wild, Sundays at Brookwood are calm and relaxing. The striploin roast is tender, juicy, and simply melts in your mouth. The Yorkshire pudding and roast veg are absolutely divine, and it all comes together with a glass of red wine.
| Pro Tip: During the holidays, Brookwood hosts a Group Lunch special. They serve up some limited-time dishes that are festive twists to their classic menu. The cost is €55 per person and is only available until 3:00 PM. |
