I can remember my first visit to the place during the late 2010s. It was a rollercoaster of emotions as I experienced everything there is to know about Whiskey. I can barely remember how much I drank that day, but I can assure you that it was a lot.

The Jameson Distillery at Bow Street is where the famous Jameson Whiskey is brewed. Here, they’ll take you on a tour of the distillery and show you the rich history of one of Ireland’s most iconic whiskeys. 

Best Time To Go To The Jameson Distillery 

There is no best time to head to the Jameson Distillery, as they only offer tours for those who book a tour with them on their website. If you have booked a tour, we’d suggest going at least 20 minutes earlier than your scheduled time.

Wheelchair Accessible: The Jameson Distillery is wheelchair accessible, and there are also accessible restrooms throughout the facility. They also offer free wheelchairs to use on-site, though these are limited. 

Assistance Dogs: The Jameson Distillery is open to allowing assistance dogs inside their facilities. They also offer water bowls and even a nice treat if they’re extra good. 

Photosensitive Epilepsy: The distillery has a section with flashing lights on it. However, this part of the tour is totally skippable, and Guides are told ahead of time if there is anyone in the group who suffers from it. 

Carer Rates: There is a free ticket for Carers for the flagship experiences when they accompany those who are in their care. You will have to buy a ticket for the disabled person.

Bike: There is no bike parking at the Jameson Distillery, so we don’t recommend that you bike there. However, we would highly recommend that you utilize Dublin Bikes, as there is a station located at Smithfield. 

Luas Tram System: The closest stop to the Jameson Distillery is on the Red Line at Smithfield Stop.

The Bow St. Experience is the premier tour at the Jameson Distillery. Here you’ll find yourself on a fully guided tour that will take you throughout the entire facility. It is the tour to get if you want the classic Jameson Distillery experience. 

You’re also entitled to a drink of your choice between three Jameson whiskeys as well as a Jameson signature cocktail at different points throughout the tour. This tour is also available in German and French for those who aren’t fluent in English.

The Whiskey Cocktail Making Class is such a blast to be at. Here, they’ll teach you about the three Jameson cocktails that are included in the Bow St. Experience, and you’ll have a chance to make them and drink them yourself. 

The entire event is hosted by a skilled Jameson Craft Ambassador, and you’ll be taught some interesting and crucial skills when it comes to cocktail making. The best part is you’ll be given a reserved table at JJ’s bar to savour your own cocktails.

The Secret Whiskey tasting is a fantastic way to savor a few of the distillery’s seasonal drinks that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Here you’ll be given premium whiskeys that are exclusive to the experience, making it a special occasion for those willing to try it. 

They’ll even teach you how to taste and appreciate the whiskey rather than simply downing it in one gulp. They’ll also give you access to John Jameson’s secret office, which we won’t spoil, but is a fun treat after all that booze.

The Jameson Black Barrel Blending Class is a wonderful way to learn about the process of making whiskey. Here, a trained professional Jameson Craft Ambassador will teach you how to blend your own whiskey in just 90 minutes. 

They’ll teach you a few tricks of the trade and some useful tips, and at the end, you’ll be given a chance to taste test a few whiskeys for your trouble. They even throw in two 50 ml bottles of the whiskey you made for you to take home after the class.

The Taste Table is an intimate experience where you’ll be given a host of different whiskeys and brands to try, and honestly, who doesn’t want to try that much alcohol? Some of the whiskeys in this experience come from the Midleton Distiller.y 

These whiskeys will be paired with specialty artisan Irish chocolates that will melt in your mouth and blend beautifully with the whiskey. They even throw in a cocktail and a special gift, which we won’t spoil, for you to enjoy after the taste test. 

Bow St. Experience & Cask Draw

The Bow St. Experience & Cask Draw offers the same experience as the premier tour, but has a few additional activities that will surely entice you. Here you’ll be given a tour of the Jameson Distillery and be given a comparative whiskey tasting afterwards. 

You’ll also be allowed access to their live maturation warehouse where they store casks of whiskey, and they’ll even allow you to try a scask strength single pot still whiskey. They also include Jameson Ginger & Lime for this trip, which is lovely. 

Redbreast Tasting

The Redbreast Tasting Experience is hosted by a Redbreast Brand Ambassador and offers a sneak peek into the Premium Irish Whiskey. Here, you’ll be allowed to taste four award-winning whiskeys from the Redbreast Family Collection. 

You’ll also be taught a few tips on learning how to nose, taste, and appreciate whiskey, which is a fun treat. They’ll also allow to give you access to the Master Distiller’s Office, which we won’t spoil, but it’s a nice way to end the tour.

Off-Peak Hours tours are cheaper and you’ll have some extra time to either go for a heavy lunch or explore other tourists or heritage sites around the area.

Walk To The DistilleryDublin is a walkable city, and if you’re looking to explore every nook and cranny, we’d highly suggest you walk to the Jameson Distillery, especially if you’re near Dublin City Centre.
