Top 5 urgent care facilities in Dublin offering fast emergency treatment

Licensing and Credentials: I went to urgent care facilities that hold licenses and credentials issued by Dublin City Hall. Additionally, those with PHECC and IMC licenses were preferred over others.

Scope of Services: I picked urgent care facilities with a wide scope of services. Facilities that can handle minor fractures and simple sprains were ranked higher.

Location and Ease of Access: I chose urgent care facilities that are easy to access. In emergencies, those near LUAS and Dublin Bus stops are easier to reach than those farther away.

Cost Transparency: I sought facilities that are transparent about the costs of procedures.

Quality of Service: I picked facilities with a high quality of service. Facilities known to provide quick relief for broken bones or minor injuries were highly prioritised.

I’ve always been a bit clumsy, and last year really proved it. From slipping on wet pavements to accidentally touching a hot pan, I ended up in the emergency room more times than I’d like to admit.

The long queues and high hospital fees eventually made me realise I needed a fast, more affordable option for minor injuries.

That’s when a friend suggested I try an urgent care facility, and the difference was night and day. These clinics handle non-life-threatening emergencies efficiently, without the stress of hospital waiting rooms.

Since then, I’ve visited a few around Dublin and found several that truly stand out. So if you ever find yourself with a sprain or a burn, these are the best urgent care facilities for quick, reliable treatment.

How much do urgent care services charge in Dublin?

Urgent care services in Dublin will typically charge between €75 and €250. The cost can increase or decrease depending on whether the clinic is public or private and if the patient has health insurance. Additionally, the type of treatment is also a big factor in the total cost.

Nassau Clinic is conveniently located in Dublin City Centre and is one of my go-to clinics for out-of-hours GP consultations or sexual healthcare concerns.

While they’re only available on Thursday and weekends, their reliability and the myriad of STI tests simply outmatch those of other clinics.

When dealing with minor medical concerns, such as heartburn or sinus infections, it’s best to consult Nassau because of their lower rates. They’re also great at providing medications to patients, especially if you find yourself running out of prescriptions.

Additionally, I recommend this clinic for those who often experience allergy attacks, as the staff here are highly experienced in handling them. My consultations lasted about 20 minutes, which was much faster than waiting at the ER.

When dealing with STIs, they also provide specific medications for treatment. Patients can easily access PrEP here as well, which I find convenient and quick to get.

However, while their services are excellent for adults, they aren’t recommended for children under 8, as they can’t treat them.

Pros

  • Out-of-hours GP
  • Great at sexual healthcare concerns
  • Provides prescriptions
  • Quick consultations
  • Works with patients with allergies
  • Offers STI medication
  • Provides PrEP

Cons

  • Only open on Thursdays and weekends
  • Can’t treat children under 8

No wait time

“It was super easy to schedule the appointment online, no wait time Saturday morning at the scheduled time and Dr. Regan was great. I needed him to check on insect bites that had suddenly become infected – something that can really ruin your vacation. Can highly recommend.”

The doctor was so understanding

“I went there because I had an emergency after going to triage which wasn’t sufficient enough. They were so nice starting from reception to treatment. Doctor was so understanding and gave me really strong medicines which literally cured my in couple days. Before them I just suffered a lot so it was a really big relief for me.

Also the place is really good and clean, location is handy.

I can not thank enough for making me better, I was living hell saturday night/sunday early morning and I was able to book them for Sunday 9am, which gave me a big relief.”

When dealing with the flu or other short-term health concerns, 24 Doc Medical Clinic is the right match for you. I go here when I have certain minor surgeries, such as small stitches or suturing of substantial wounds.

Their GPs were highly skilled and provided me with comprehensive assessments of my current medical concerns. Patients here receive personalised care tailored to their needs.

Assessments take around 10-20 minutes. If you’re having difficulty moving and are unable to come over, they also offer telephone or online consultations.

I also head here for vaccinations and simple blood tests because of the convenience and faster results, unlike other places.

Additionally, they also accommodate walk-in patients. This is great for those with minor injuries that don’t require an ER visit.

However, most medical documents here require an additional fee, which is often quite steep.

  • Accommodates certain injuries
  • Highly skilled GPs
  • Telephone/online consultations
  • Provides vaccinations
  • Offers blood tests
  • Accommodates walk-in patients
  • Performs minor surgeries

Truly exceptional

“I had an urgent medical concern, and I was fortunate to get an appointment at this 24DOC practice on very short notice. The level of care and efficiency I experienced was truly exceptional. The staff, including the receptionist, went above and beyond to accommodate me and ensure my visit went smoothly. The receptionist was not only professional but also very friendly and reassuring during a stressful time. I’m immensely grateful for the care and service I received from this practice, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of medical attention.”

I got my appointment right away

“I was really impressed by this place. I got an appointment right away. The doctor was extremely good, thorough, great manner, totally competent. They did some tests and diagnostics right there right away while I was in the clinic and got everything sorted quickly. All this on the weekend when most GPs are closed.”

Associated with the HSE, Mater Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic is best for certain injuries that don’t require a hospital visit. I’ve found that this clinic can treat conditions such as broken bones and minor burns.

All procedures cost a flat rate of €75. If you have a referral from an emergency department or a GP, procedures are then free of charge. Procedures are also free for people like me with an HSE medical card.

They have reliable X-ray facilities here and can also apply plaster casts, which I found far cheaper than having them done at a private clinic. Another great factor about this clinic is that they don’t require appointments.

They can treat minor scalds and even broken or sprained bones. I was also treated here for a minor head injury, and the experience was quick and painless.

However, for cases that require a GP, such as coughs or colds, it’s best to visit your doctor instead. They can’t treat those here.

Pros

  • Specialises in treating injuries
  • Flat rate for procedures
  • Free for certain individuals
  • X-ray facilities
  • Installs plaster casts

Cons

  • Doesn’t treat illnesses

Would highly recommend

“I attended the Clinic today following a nasty fall at home involving a stupid hoover! I am giving an absolutely deseved 5 star review as everyone was so beyond kind. Receptionist on the ground floor was a absolute lady and organised for a team member to bring out a wheelchair as I couldn’t put my foot down to get inside the building. This same guy also wheeled me up and down the floors for xrays and review. Then there was the lovely ladies at reception with a great sense of humour who took my details and got me sorted with forms etc. And finally a HUGE thank you to Ruth who looked after me throughout the whole process. She explained everything and fitted me with a boot and showed me how to use the crutches. Would highly recommend 👌”

I felt so well looked after

“A credit to our health service. Just out after spending a few hours getting treatment on a badly fractured ankle. From reception all the way through were fantastic. I was seen promptly, the staff were very friendly and communicated really well. The doctors/nurses were great and I felt so well looked after.

Not one of those reviews were you say I’ll definitely be back 😂😂 but if I ever need to I know I’ll be in good hands.”

Doctor365 has clinics across County Dublin, but its main one is in Dublin 8, near the city centre. I often head here because they’re open all week and have some of the most compassionate GPs in Dublin.

I love coming here because of their low consultation fees. Online consultations cost around €25, while phone consultations cost €40. A walk-in consultation should cost around €50.

While their consultation fees are low, other forms of treatment can be expensive.

Regardless, I appreciate that they also offer a wide range of services. Their GPs are great at minimising the effects of a cold or the flu. They also have staff who provide reliable care for children, offering treatment tailored to each patient’s specific needs.

They’re also great at treating minor injuries. I’ve been treated for lacerations and burns here, and they got me sorted within 20 to 40 minutes.

Additionally, you can also get referrals for MRIs and CT scans here. I’ve also been able to get doctors’ notes and sick certificates here for work.

Pros

  • Locations across County Dublin
  • Open 7 days a week
  • Cheap consultation fees
  • Wide list of treatment options
  • Provides treatment for children
  • Quick consultations and treatment

Cons

  • Expensive treatment fees

I couldn’t be more grateful

“I have used you service in person and over the phone consultation in Dublin and Waterford.

I couldn’t be more gratefull that you offer this service. In Ireland it is very difficult to see a GP especially if you are visitor or as we me living in the country for 5 months a year.

Your doctors are very professional and friendly. As a patient you are seen promptly and can collect a prescription right after the consultation in a nearby pharmacy

Also your opening hour are very public friendly.

Thanks 100% for setting up your practice. L. Condon”

– Linda Condon, Google Review

Good private GP

“Good private GP clinic that doesn’t require you to make an appointment for a doctor’s visit. The dr was good, attentive and knowledgeable about my problem. I would recommend this clinic to any person living in Ireland, especially if they’re a foreigner.”

For a more comprehensive clinic, the Mater Private Emergency Department is the right choice. As a private practice, they employ a wide range of doctors and specialists who can easily treat certain illnesses or injuries.

Their emergency care services are comparable to those in hospitals, enabling them to treat a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. Some general illnesses that I’ve had treated here are abdominal complaints and vomiting/diarrhoea symptoms.

Aside from these, patients also receive comprehensive general surgery for injuries, such as broken bones or the removal of certain cysts. There are also orthopaedic specialists on hand for more serious cases.

I’ve also gone here for emergencies concerning neurological conditions, like vertigo and headaches. These were easily treated by their GPs and, in some cases, by dedicated neurologists.

However, due to their extensive care facilities, their services are far more expensive compared to smaller clinics

Pros

  • Comprehensive healthcare
  • Treats various injuries and illnesses
  • Performs general surgery
  • Treats neurological conditions

Cons

  • Expensive services compared to smaller clinics

Was referred here by another urgent care

“Was referred here by another urgent care as they have the labs and imaging facilities. Came on Monday morning just as they open, their busiest day. Managed to get diagnosed and leave by the end of the day. The registration staff explained how the payment with insurance works and when I will expect the bill. Do expect a lot of waiting.”

– Nee Shen Ho, Google Review

Received immediate help

“Heart issues today on the street, walked in, immediate help. Was a serious problem. All people were so nice. Maybe be a bit nicer yourself … we are all people. Make sure you have your private health insurance details, the guy who is doing his job too good, can cause stress not getting immediate the number.. reminds me of doctor House.. treatment or no treatment ))”
