Slowly regaining function with the 5 best physiotherapists in Dublin

Licensing and Credentials: I sought physiotherapists who hold proper licensing and credentials. I looked for those who are accredited with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).

Specialisations: I prioritised physiotherapists who have different types of specialisations. I went for those who can work with patients suffering from neurological and orthopaedic conditions.

Accessibility of the Clinic: I picked physiotherapy clinics that are easily accessible by car or public transport.

Extent of Treatment Plans: I selected physiotherapists who have extensive treatment plans, including exercises and regular assessments.

Pricing and Insurance Coverage: I selected physiotherapists with competitive pricing and comprehensive insurance coverage.

After my friend Julia got into an accident, things were difficult for her. As good friends, we were there for her, but we could only do so much.

As a supportive friend, I accompanied her during her sessions with the GP, and we were recommended to seek out reliable physiotherapists. These professionals are great at helping accident patients regain their function, and Julia showed signs of improvement after the first visit.

With my experience, I’ve gained a good understanding of what makes a great physiotherapist. To help you out, I’ve compiled a list of the best physiotherapists in Dublin who can assist anyone in regaining their mobility and function.

How much does a physiotherapy session cost in Dublin?

A physiotherapy session in Dublin can cost between €70 to €130. The primary factor influencing the cost is the duration of each session. Additionally, the complexity of a patient’s case, as well as their strength, will affect the cost.

Sports Physio Ireland is one of my favourites, mainly due to the comprehensiveness of their services. From booking to the actual appointment, patients felt cared for and seen throughout the entire process.

However, I was disappointed that, due to the comprehensive services, they can be more expensive compared to other clinics.

Despite this, after booking, they provide patients with an email to discuss their current situation. This is great since it allows the patient to share their experiences without feeling judged.

The physical assessment itself was bespoke and truly got to the root of what was causing Julia difficulties. She utilised the plan they provided, and it was all-encompassing.

Their services cover all parts of the body, from the lower neck to the Achilles tendon. I appreciate their physiotherapists for being careful and gentle. Their therapists did their best to avoid causing any further harm to their patients.

Pros

  • Comprehensive services
  • In-depth and bespoke treatment plans
  • Covers all parts of the body
  • Ease of booking appointments
  • Clean clinic

Cons

  • Expensive services

It was fantastic in helping me get back to full fitness

“I had a neck injury that was really affecting my training, and Hannah at Sports Physio Ireland was fantastic in helping me get back to full fitness. She gave me clear exercises to do at home and followed up with helpful instructional videos that guided me week by week.

Hannah also took the time to show me the correct way to lift weights, which was likely the cause of my injury in the first place. Throughout the process, she was patient, reassuring, and had a great sense of humour. She answered every question I had and made the whole recovery experience so much easier.

I’d highly recommend Hannah and the whole team at Sports Physio Ireland….really professional, supportive, and effective care.”

ReBalance Physiotherapy utilises ultrasound technology to peer deeper into the body to find the root cause of injuries. They’re one of the first ones to offer this in Ireland, and while it’s experimental, many patients swear by its effectiveness.

Their main services focus on sports injury rehab, which slowly reintroduces function to broken bones and muscle tears. Aside from this, they address back and neck pain through a combination of massage and exercises.

For those dealing with foot pain, they provide orthotics treatment. I’ve personally used their recommended socks, which gave me immediate relief.

Another great offer is their shockwave therapy, which shocks joints and treats them from the inside. They claim that this increases blood flow and intensifies healing at the site, but some patients report that it has no effect on them, resulting in varied success.

Lastly, when dealing with balance issues, their vestibular rehab is great for those with vertigo and Meniere’s Disease. I found the assessment itself to be quite extensive.

Pros

  • Utilises ultrasound technology
  • Provides a wide range of services
  • Works with different types of illnesses
  • Offers intense massages and exercises
  • Creates bespoke recovery and training plans

Cons

  • Varied success with shockwave therapy

He quickly pinpoints and analyzes the issue, gives clear and detailed explanations, and creates targeted recovery and training plans. With his guidance, you can see significant improvement and progress in no time. He’s truly a trustworthy and reliable professional.!”

You’ll be in excellent hands

“I’ve been seeing Daniel for physiotherapy for many years now, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and someone I completely trust with my care.

I’ve occasionally been treated by other team members at his practice over the years, and they’ve all been just as professional and skilled. It’s clear that the entire team is held to a high standard

Highly recommended – you’ll be in excellent hands!”

Aside from this, they offer physiotherapy for a range of conditions, from simple sprains to complex fractures, with the option for female patients to see female specialists.

Orthotics and dry needling are also available here, and these options are available for both males and females.

What I love about ReSync is its facilities. Unlike most clinics, they have a large, open space equipped with a variety of exercise equipment. With over 25 years of experience, they’ve worked with patients with different illnesses and injuries.

Their therapists work with all parts of the body, from the lower back to the wrists. These sessions are available in packages with a discount of over 20% for patients with health insurance, resulting in significant savings, as calculated by my team.

Many of their therapists focus on sports injuries and have worked with the IRFU and Sheffield United. Their sports physiotherapy and massage services are excellent, and patients have reported regaining their strength in just a few sessions.

Additionally, they offer rehabilitation classes. Most notable of these is their ACL rehabilitation class, which is perfect for those with terrible sports injuries. Aside from this, I found their better bones class to be great for the older generation.

However, I’ve heard that there have been reports from patients of shorter sessions than advertised.

Pros

  • Over 25 years of experience
  • Large open spaces
  • Works with all parts of the body
  • Worked with large sports teams
  • Wide range of services
  • Provides rehabilitation classes

Cons

  • Reports of shorter sessions than advertised

Did everything he could to help me get back to playing

“I attended ReSync after tearing my hamstring while playing football. From the very first session, Ross was fantastic. His expertise and professionalism made the whole process much easier. He guided me through every step of my rehabilitation, even taking videos during our sessions to ensure I could do my exercises correctly at home. He checked in regularly and did everything he could to help me get back to playing as quickly and safely as possible. I highly recommend Ross and ReSync.”

Helped me quickly get referred for an MRI & surgery to fix my torn ACL

“I couldn’t recommend Lee enough for ACL rehab. Lee helped me quickly get referred for an MRI & surgery to fix my torn ACL. He set me up with pre surgery exercises to get my strength up before surgery. The rehab post surgery was super, each week he tailored it based on how I was progressing and pulled back a bit if he thought it was necessary. 11 weeks post op and I can see the muscle growth on both my legs from his programme and I feel so much more confident in my knee. I’m off to continue my rehab in Australia for the next year but wouldn’t have been able to get there without all of his help & expertise! Thanks so much Lee!!”

Archview makes treatments easy and concise. They take out a lot of the extra fluff and make the experience as straightforward as possible. I’ve found that patients love it here due to their expert-led personalised treatment plans and quick transactions.

Their main treatments focus on back and neck pain, utilising early intervention to prevent further damage. There are also massage therapists available on-site who provide relief to all parts of the body, from the neck to the feet.

Additionally, they offer services to pregnant women to relieve stress, such as massages.

Many pregnant clients found these to be helpful in promoting relaxation during the stressful parts of pregnancy.

For those seeking to improve themselves, Pilates classes and stretching exercises are available at the clinic. These are best for desk workers, and I can’t help but agree. I have never felt more flexible than after attending both classes.

Yet, I found their sessions to be shorter than those of others.

Pros

  • Straightforward procedures
  • Wide range of treatments
  • Offers extensive massages
  • Provides services to pregnant women
  • Offers pilates and stretching classes
  • Personalised treatment plans

Cons

  • Expensive and shorter sessions

The treatment I received from Martina was absolutely amazing

“I attended Archview Physiotherapy for issues I was having with my shoulder and arm and the treatment I received from Martina was absolutely amazing. Her knowledge, care and help was excellent. After the first session, which included dry needling, I felt instant relief and retrieved the motion back again in my shoulder and arm that I had lost for a few months prior. With just a few more appointments, customised physio exercises, I was able to raise my arm, bring it around to my back and all with very little pain.

Always professional and welcoming, I can 100% recommend the team at Archview and a special thank you to Martina!”
