Top 5 dentists in Dublin specializing in restorative dental care

  • Licensing and Accreditation: I chose dental clinics that have dentists with up-to-date licenses. Those with additional accreditations from associations like the Irish Dental Association (IDA) were highly preferred.
  • Location: I selected dental clinics that are conveniently located near public transportation or main roads to minimise travel time to and from the clinic.
  • Equipment Quality: I prioritised dental clinics with modern equipment. I found that utilising modern techniques and contemporary equipment, such as dental fillings, can be less invasive than traditional methods.
  • Services Offered: I selected dental clinics that offer more than just general dentistry. I visited clinics that offer more comprehensive dentistry options, such as orthodontics or periodontics, to eliminate the need to visit multiple clinics.
  • Cost Transparency: I went for dental clinics that are transparent about their pricing.

Finding a reliable dentist in Dublin can be tough, especially for people in their 20s who often move between districts. Dental care isn’t cheap either, so finding a trustworthy dentist (ideally one who accepts HSE cards) can save you a lot in the long run.

Luckily, Dublin has plenty of excellent options. From the city centre to the outer suburbs, you’ll find skilled dentists ready to keep your smile healthy.

To help narrow it down, I’ve gathered recommendations from friends and family. These are some of Dublin’s best dentists, ready to brighten your smile and take care of any pesky cavities.

How much does dental treatment cost in Dublin?

A dental treatment in Dublin typically costs between €40 to €120 for an examination. Those requiring other treatments, such as fillings or extractions, can expect a price increase. When dealing with complex cases, the value can double or triple.

If there’s an office I highly trust, it has to be Harcourt Dental Clinic. They have a wide range of services that I’ve personally undergone. I can say that they have the range, and some services are better than others.

When dealing with cosmetic surgery, they provide a myriad of options. I’ve had crowns placed with them. The process was quick and utilised modern equipment, such as 3D imaging.

I’ve also gone here for several root canal treatments. It was painless, and the dentist I worked with, Lorna, made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process.

Harcourt Dental Clinic also offers teeth whitening and general dental hygiene services. These cleared up any built-up plaque that I had, and the entire process was painless.

However, patients are required to schedule an in-house appointment with Harcourt Dental’s hygienist before consulting their periodontist, which can delay treatment.

Pros

  • Wide range of treatments
  • Located in the city centre
  • Provides cosmetic dental surgery
  • Offers endodontic treatment
  • Utilises modern equipment
  • Provides anesthetics
  • Comforting dentists

Cons

  • Additional consultations before periodontal treatment

Her approach to managing my teeth is brilliant

“Lorna from Harcourt Dental Clinic is amazing. Her approach to managing my teeth is brilliant, I am 58, with a mount full of large filings and Lorna’s work has made such improvements. She is so professional and communicates really well, setting out a plan. I am so relaxed when I go to the dentist that I fell asleep when I was getting a large back filling!

Reception lady is very nice and helpful and dental nurse was so friendly when I was in with Lorna on 29/9.”

Is a truly exceptional dentist

“I required some extensive dental work which I had been catastrophising in my head for some time now. Having finally plucked up the courage, I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been cared for so professionally & competently by Lorna and the team. Lorna has a wonderful kind manner, communicates very clearly, is a truly exceptional dentist and is a kind, empathic person. I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you Lorna & team!”

I’ve met patients who swear by Pro Dental Dublin. They offer a wide range of treatment types that surpass the standards of others. With welcoming staff and patient dentists, I truly can’t get enough of Pro Dental.

When it comes to their procedures, they offer a wide range of general dentistry services, including fillings and extractions. Aside from these, patients appreciate their extensive check-ups, which are honest and thorough.

Additionally, I’ve spoken to patients who have had crowns and implants installed at this clinic. They said the crowns were long-lasting, and I’ve seen that they were sculpted well.

I was even more surprised to learn about their orthodontic treatment here. Their options range from traditional metal braces to clear aligners, suitable for all types of patients.

The clinic itself is clean and modern, and describing it as “well-organised” is an understatement.

However, I found their services to be significantly more expensive than those of other clinics, particularly for routine cleanings and whitening treatments.

Pros

  • Wide range of treatment types
  • Clean and modern clinic
  • Welcoming and kind staff
  • Impressive restorative dentistry
  • Offers orthodontic treatments

Cons

  • Expensive services

I felt comfortable throughout the treatment

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had an outstanding experience with Dr. Tang. He’s not only an excellent periodontist but also one of the most honest and caring professionals I’ve ever met. He took the time to explain every detail clearly and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the treatment. It’s rare to find a dentist who combines such skill, sincerity, and genuine care for his patients. I’m truly grateful for his honesty and expertise — I highly recommend Dr. Tang!”

I’ve had a great experience at this clinic from the very beginning

“I’ve had a great experience at this clinic from the very beginning. The staff are always welcoming, professional, and genuinely helpful. You can tell they truly care about their patients. Dr. Tang is an exceptional dentist – kind, attentive, and very skilled. He takes the time to explain everything clearly and makes sure you’re comfortable throughout the entire process.

The clinic itself is clean, modern, and well-organized, which makes every visit smooth and stress-free. It’s not always easy to find a dental practice where you feel both confident in the care you’re receiving and relaxed during your appointment, but this clinic really manages to do both.

I’m very happy with the service I’ve received and will definitely keep coming back.”

Dame Street Dental Hospital offers a wide range of services that no small clinic can provide. I found some niche treatments here, and they’re the best service when it comes to utilising high-tech machines in dentistry.

The hospital is led by Truly Dental. For treatment options, the ones that stood out are their TruSmile Implants and their children’s dental options. Their TruSmile Implants are made with titanium and integrate beautifully into the bone. Plus, these have a high success rate.

Dentists are calm and patient when dealing with children, making them feel comfortable enough to trust them.

I was surprised to see that they have over 30 different treatment rooms. These are open 7 days a week. Additionally, many of their treatment plans are designed to work with nervous patients, which I highly appreciate.

Another great thing about Dame Street Dental Hospital is the flexibility of their payment plans. They work with a wide range of income levels, and I appreciate that they offer free consultations.

Yet again, due to their popularity, patients should not expect to get an immediate appointment aside from emergency cases.

Pros

  • Wide range of services
  • High-tech dentistry
  • Incredible accommodation
  • Flexible treatment plans
  • Unique TruSmile Implants
  • Offers a wide range of sedatives

Cons

  • Long wait time for appointments

Excellent dental care at an affordable price

“I had two upper teeth extracted at the same time. Dr. Sammy Magdelin was exceptionally professional and had a very good vibe. First, he performed an examination, and then he explained the entire procedure to me, including all the risks. The extractions took only 15 minutes – less time than the examination and explanation combined.

The doctor was very careful, gentle, and professional. He explained how to avoid any complications after the extraction and provided a prescription for antibiotics to prevent risks. I also received a free follow-up appointment in a month to make sure everything is healing properly.

Based on my previous experiences at other clinics, this place is truly outstanding: exceptional service, professionalism, and very reasonable prices. Other clinics tried to charge me €1000 for the same procedure, but here I paid only €600.

For anyone looking for excellent dental care at an affordable price, this is one of the best – maybe even the best – clinics in Dublin.”

They were so kind and helped keep me calm throughout

“I had a really good experience here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I’m quite a nervous patient when it comes to the dentist, but they were so kind and helped keep me calm throughout. The practice was spotless, and I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. I’d definitely come back here for future dental work!”

Many of my friends enjoy visiting Unique Dental due to the extensive range of treatments. I appreciate that they provide surgery, which isn’t typical for smaller clinics.

Their general dentistry is comprehensive, with treatments such as the installation of sealants for fillings. Another great aspect of Unique Dental is their ability to perform both simple and complex extractions for patients.

I was surprised that they offer five different specialist care. Most notable of these are their paediatrics and endodontics treatments, which I’ve heard good things about.

These are done by specific dentists, and their paediatric department helps to create stronger adult teeth for children. When discussing their endodontic department, they emphasise that their root canal treatments are both painless and long-lasting.

Aside from these, they have an implantologist who installs unique All-on-4 and All-on-6 implants that are made of titanium. Other clinics praise Unique Dental for this feature, as they resemble real teeth.

Just note that consultations require payment, unlike other clinics, which offer them free of charge.

Pros

  • Extensive treatments
  • Offers dental surgery
  • Variety of procedures
  • Offers different types of specialist care
  • Installs unique implants
  • Provides cosmetic dentistry

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer free consultations

If your child is afraid to see a dentist, this is the right place

They made what could have been a stressful experience into something smooth

“I had an examination at Unique Dental and I must say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were warm, welcoming, and very attentive, which immediately put me at ease. The clinic itself is modern, clean, and very well-organized, creating a comfortable environment for patients.

During my appointment, the dentist and the entire team were extremely professional, kind, and thorough. They took the time to explain each step of the examination clearly, answering all my questions with patience and making sure I felt comfortable throughout the process. What impressed me the most was how genuinely caring they were — I never once felt rushed or overlooked, and I truly felt that my well-being was their top priority.

It’s rare to find a clinic where professionalism and genuine kindness go hand in hand, but Unique Dental achieves this perfectly. They made what could have been a stressful experience into something smooth, pleasant, and reassuring.

I would highly recommend Unique Dental to anyone looking for excellent dental care in Dublin. The level of attention, respect, and care I received was simply outstanding. I will definitely be returning and I feel confident knowing that I’m in such good hands.”

While not the most prestigious institution, Dublin Dental University Hospital is ideal for patients on a budget. Many of their procedures are cheaper than others, and they’re still comparable to the standards of a private clinic.

The treatments here are done by students, but don’t worry, since they’re constantly monitored by trained professionals. For specialisations, patients can find specialists-in-training working here who are professional and patient.

Clinics are separated into different departments here. I’ve particularly gone here for the oral surgery department to get my wisdom teeth out. While the experience took longer than expected, it was mostly painless.

Dublin Dental University Hospital features an extensive general dentistry department, offering a range of procedures, including restorative and endodontic dentistry. These are performed quickly and carefully by student dentists.

I’ve personally spoken to a few patients, and they love that the student dentists here are extra careful when dealing with simpler cases.

Aside from these, there are tertiary clinics handled by professionals. These handle surgical cases that are far too complex for students to manage. Instances like joint procedures with orthodontic and restorative clinics can be found here.

Pros

  • Budget-friendly dentistry
  • Wide range of services
  • Extensive dentistry programmes
  • Monitored by licensed professionals
  • Tertiary clinic for complex cases

Cons

  • Work is done primarily by student dentists
