Top 5 emergency dentists in Dublin for urgent tooth treatment
Nothing feels worse than a toothache. Dental care in Dublin can be costly, even under the Health Service Executive (HSE). Because of that, I often tried to ignore the pain until it became unbearable.
After years of putting it off, I finally decided to look for a dentist, only to find out that appointments could take weeks. Thankfully, one practice kindly referred me to an emergency dentist they trusted.
Since then, I’ve visited some of the best emergency dentists in Dublin. They relieve pain quickly for a reasonable fee, and with my list of trusted options, anyone can find fast help when dental pain strikes.
How much do emergency dental services cost in Dublin?
Emergency dental services in Dublin cost between €50 and €90 for an emergency examination. Additional services, like extractions or fillings, will increase the overall price. Out-of-hours charges may also apply, depending on the clinic.

Dame Street Dental Hospital’s emergency services are handled by Truly Dental. I prefer them for their affordable rates and free payment options, thanks to HSE’s medical card.
However, their payment plans can be quite expensive due to interest rates.
Thankfully, scheduling an appointment was easy enough for me, with an emergency examination option available. I was able to be seen at 12:30 PM, but they accept patients from 8:00 AM until 7:30 PM.
Having been here before for a regular visit, I can say the emergency exam was as thorough as the usual one. Because of my medical card, my extractions were free, though I paid out of pocket for my root canal treatment.
Aside from these, they can also create crowns and dentures, though these will take a few more visits. But don’t worry, they’ll provide temporary ones while they make the permanents.

Smile Hub is perfect for those needing accommodation for children and disabled people. I was impressed that they have won several Irish Dentistry Awards since 2022, showcasing their incredible dental procedures.
As for their treatments, they offer an extensive list. Most notable among these are their broken tooth extractions and root canal treatment. There is a playground on-site for children and wheelchair access throughout the entire facility.
Smile Hub is also a lifesaver for accidents like reinserting knocked-out teeth and filling in chipped teeth, which I find to be both aesthetically and practically convenient.
When booking appointments, one can easily book on weekends and even on bank holidays. In addition, there’s an option to book one from early in the morning to extremely late in the evening.
However, it’s worth noting that the prices listed on their website may not always be fully accurate.
Nevertheless, they can accommodate patients in urgent emergencies at any time of day for a modest fee.

3Dental is an affordable clinic that uses modern techniques for dental crises. They have four different offices across Dublin and its surrounding counties.
At their Red Cow location, 3Dental identified three dental issues during my visit: a fractured tooth, damaged restorations, and an infection at the fracture site.
I was glad to learn that consultations are free and available with every dentist. However, I was disappointed to find that emergency treatments are only offered during specific time slots, not throughout the day.
Thankfully, they offer other treatments, such as teeth cleaning, which is ideal for those dealing with periodontal disease. They can also provide temporary crowns and veneers for patients who need quick restorative solutions.
I’ve also personally used the clinic’s 3D imaging and traditional X-ray services. These are especially helpful for patients with dental implants.

Located in the heart of Dublin, Clinic4U is a great choice for those who want to eat in Temple Bar before or after their appointments. Their staff are warm and compassionate, and many of their patients felt cared for throughout their experience.
About their emergency services, patients told me they were able to get an appointment on the same day they booked.
You can also easily replace your dentures with temporary ones while creating new ones. A friend of mine, Sally, had a temporary crown placed initially and returned a few days later for a permanent one that was sturdier than the original.
Aside from these, Clinic4U also provides X-rays and 3D imaging to check the condition of patients with dental implants. Other services they provide include emergency fillings and general dentistry procedures, such as cleanings.
In addition, they offer a range of temporary plastic surgery options, such as lip fillers or anti-wrinkle injections. Personally, I was both astonished and quite pleased to learn that they have these unique offers.
However, some patients have mentioned that their crowns loosened after a few months.

My home dentist was concerned that the tooth would shift by the time I got home, so I walked in and was able to get an appointment that day. The receptionist, Tania, was very helpful in getting me set up and finding a time that would work. The dentist was very understanding and able to come up with an immediate solution (she also gave me a more involved option, but I was leaving Dublin the next day). Canal View Dental Surgery is ideal for patients with complex dental emergencies who need surgery. They can accommodate patients at any time of the week.
My friend went in for an extraction and was able to get an appointment on the same day, even when it was a bank holiday. It’s great to know they have quite a few dentists on staff who can treat everyone after a short wait.
Aside from this, they offer non-invasive options for severe toothaches, including panoramic X-rays to clearly visualise the inside of the tooth.
They can also extract teeth with a dental abscess and prescribe certain medication to alleviate the pain. These even include special cases, like wisdom teeth, which are rare in emergency dentistry.
Tooth replacement is also available here, with three options, though only two are available to emergency patients. These are dental bridges and dentures, which are great for covering small or larger gaps.
However, as a team of skilled dental surgeons, their services tend to be more expensive than those of other dental practices.

“Excellent service, I went to this dentist on a bank holiday and I was in a lot of pain with my wisdom tooth that was affecting my lower tooth causing an infection, he took out my wisdom tooth and I was in and out within 45 mins, I was very nervous as I have never had a tooth removed before but he made me feel very comfortable and he cracked alot of jokes which made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. Cannot praise Dr. Emara enough
“After a traumatic fall on a bank holiday weekend the only place that was opened was the canal view dental surgery, I was a bit nervous to use a different dentist but cannot praise Dr. Emara enough. Not only did he fix my broken tooth he also applied cream to me facial grazes and told me to keep the cream and make sure I apply it daily. He has a wicked sense of humour but will put you completely at ease with his genuine kindness. I cannot recommend him and the canal view dental surgery enough.
