These are the top 5 stone masons in Dublin we’d trust to build a wall
I know it’s become somewhat of a trend to have a bare-bones backyard, and I can somewhat see the appeal. But there’s just something about a wonderful stone pathway and nice landscaping that has truly drawn me into the world of stone masons.
The challenge is finding skilled stone masons in Dublin who can deliver that quality. From sturdy stonework to enhancing different parts of your house, the right mason makes a big difference.
After doing my research, I’ve put together a list of the best masonry services in the city.
How much does a stone mason charge in Dublin?
A stone mason in Dublin typically charges between €31 and €44 per hour or €250 and €350 per day. This will increase or decrease depending on whether their rates include the materials that they’ll be using for your project.
1. Heritage Stonemasons

Address: Blackrock, Co. Wicklow, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 87 626 2893
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Heritage Stonemasons creates stone works for all sorts of areas in the house. They specialise in stone entrances, houses, walls, and fireplaces.
What I like about their service is that each design is bespoke and unique, keeping the owner’s design preferences in mind.
They combine traditional methods, like dry stone walling and hand dressing, with modern techniques to deliver durable work with a refined, high-quality finish.
I also found it interesting that they’re involved in every part of the stone project. They liaise with architects and stone suppliers to help guide you in the planning process.
Aside from that, they’re the ones who will provide the labour and will be the ones to connect you with local stone suppliers.
The team was meticulous and friendly. In fact, Jack, the owner, recommended using stones native to the area, as they are more cost-effective and blend well with the local scenery and landscape.
However, some reviews note that they can be difficult to reach, so it’s worth keeping this in mind before you decide to work with them.
Absolutely thrilled with the result
“It was a pleasure to deal with Jack and Tom. Their craft is an art and it’s obvious to see the care and attention they put into it, and the passion they have for it.
Our wall is over 200 yrs old and we we’re afraid of it falling, as some of it was crumbling. It’s the Orchard boundary wall of the Abbey.
We are absolutely thrilled with the result. Very happy to recommend Heritage Stonemasons.”

Produced a beautiful result
“Exceptional quality work from two dedicated hard working stonemasons. Have had the pleasure of having Jack & Tom working on our property twice in the last 5 years. They were very neat during what we expected to be a messy build, as well as being very reasonably priced, and produced a beautiful result on both occasions. We regularly receive compliments on their work. 2 great guys who we would highly recommend.”

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
If you’re looking for garden and backyard specialists, Crossline offers a wide range of paving and landscaping solutions.
I found the extent of their stone work to be quite varied. They provide services such as creating stone walls, natural stone patios, and a variety of stone masonry services for both functional and aesthetic purposes.
What stood out to me is their claims of durability and low maintenance when it comes to the stone work that they provide. They claim to tailor each stone project to the owner’s needs and provide them with a range of material choices.
Aside from stone work, they also provide garden cleanouts. This is great for those who have messy backyards and gardens.
I also found that their landscaping and power washing services can instantly rejuvenate any garden.
Another highlight is their driveway services, covering gravel driveways, relaying, and lifting, which can boost a home’s value. They also offer shed bases and tree topping, both of which can breathe new life into any garden.
However, some clients have mentioned that the team tends to leave a considerable mess after completing a project.
Very professional and efficient
“I cannot highly recommend Crossline Paving and Landscaping enough for their work in our back garden recently for removing 3 tree stumps. We knew it would be tough to fully remove as the trees were there over 60 years but we were fortunate that it was possible to fully remove them. We gave them access and we weren’t there when they were doing it but kept us updated and sent video during the work and we met them at the end of the job and they had cleaned up and photos say it all,Andrew and his team were very professional and efficient. They took great care and we would use them again.”

Top-notch service and craftsmanship
“I am delighted with the work done on my patio and garden path by Crossline. They transformed our sunken slanted patio into a beautiful level space. The garden path, once dipped, is now perfectly re-laid. Every detail is finished to the highest standard and even the stonework was cleaned. Top notch service and craftsmanship. I would highly recommend them.”

3. RD Stone Design

Address: RD Stone Design 14 Golf Suites, Garters Lane, Saggart, Co. Dublin, Ireland
Contact Details: +353 86 172 4032
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
RD Stone Design specialises in driveways. While they started in 2011, they’ve quickly built a strong reputation.
I chose them because they provide services outside Dublin County and nearby counties like Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, and Louth.
What truly sets them apart is their focus on collaborating closely with clients to deliver tailored stonework. They specialise in creating bespoke designs for fireplaces, stone barbecues, and even pillars.
Aside from these, the most unique service that I found was their porcelain paving, which offers a sleek and glossy finish to patios and walkways.
I also felt reassured by the wide range of before-and-after testimonials on their website, which highlight various completed projects.
Notably, they also provide artificial grass installation, concrete works and foundations, cladding, as well as drainage and groundwork.
However, with only a handful of reviews online, it may be difficult to gauge their reliability. Some clients have also reported challenges in contacting them.
It is faultless
“RD Stonedesign were recommended to me from the suppliers of the stone I wanted to use for a front garden hardscape reconstruction job and I am very glad I went with that endorsement. I got RD Stonedesign to do site clearance (excavate an existing driveway, take down existing steel fencing and shift a lot of earth), lay a reinforced concrete new driveway base and place 50m² of stone paving on mortar. The end-product is to an extremely high standard: it is faultless in terms of straight edges, right angles, levels, slopes, layout of joints, selection of most suitable slabs, joint gaps and quality of grouting. They were in and out in just over a week and the whole process went smoothly: material arrived to site only when they needed it and waste was removed from site swiftly. Main thing however is that the paving looks top-notch!”

The team were outstanding
“Re Derek Sandymount
I was introduced to Ivis and RD StoneDesign by a neighbour. Ivis met me twice to review and agree the project, timeframe was agreed, started on time and was completed within a week. Am so happy with the outcome for my front and back garden. The team were outstanding, and the level of finish exceeded expectations. Have no hesitation in recommending RD Stone Design. A very satisfied customer.”

4. O’Flaherty Stone

Address: Ballyknockan, Co.Wicklow
Contact Details: +353 87 765 9564
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
O’Flaherty is a great business for those looking for stone masonry across the country. Unlike others, they’re a family-run business that has been in stone masonry for 8 generations.
I also found their range of services to be quite appealing. They provide headstone services, as well as hand-cutting and sandblasting lettering.
For more structural work, they offer sculpture, lime work, and pointing, as well as architectural services. These include load-bearing arches, window and door frames, stone steps, as well as hearths and fireplaces.
I was equally impressed by their repair work, which covers both wall and structural fixes. What really stood out was the care they took to match and preserve the original stone.
I also appreciated their transparency with pricing, which gave me a clear idea of costs before requesting a quote.
They’re also an award-winning service, having received the Living Heritage Award and the RDS Craft Awards.
Their portfolio included working with larger-than-life projects such as Dublin Castle and the Parliamentary Building, so I was able to easily trust them.
However, they’re quite expensive compared to competitors.
We had an excellent experience
“Killian and Team rebuilt a 200y old granite wall in our back garden. Communication from them was excellent – the wall is half owned by our neighbour so he had two households to manage. We had a quote with a clear scope. The site was always left spotless and the rebuilt wall looks great (and no additional cost over what was quoted). We had an excellent experience.”

An absolute pleasure to deal with
“Killian and Petra were an absolute pleasure to deal with and were extremely professional and reliable. They both are very skilled stone masons and take great pride in their work. I was delighted with the high quality of the work carried out and the attention to detail. I would have no hesitation in recommending O’Flaherty Stone”

5. Peninsula Stone

Address: 68 Main Street, Howth, Co. Dublin
Contact Details: +353 1 963 0348
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Peninsula Stone has been in operation since 2010. They specialise in stonework with regard to landscaping.
I found their stonework to be unique as they integrate stonework into patios, walls, and even outdoor kitchens. These are bespoke designs that cater highly to each client’s requests.
As for their selection of stones, aside from the typical granite and limestone, they also offer unique options like quartz and Liscannor stone, which are more refined and stylish.
Aside from stonework, they also provide landscaping and deck installations. These focus on contemporary designs that have a modern touch. They even claim to use quality materials for their projects.
The owner, Jonathan Cooke, leads most of their operations. I found him to be a conversationalist who offered me great advice and insights.
Peninsula Stone also offers comprehensive survey consultations and estimates to fully maximise space and budget.
However, they are a fairly new company and have a limited number of testimonials.
We can’t recommend them enough
“We had a fantastic experience with Peninsula Stone. From the first briefing to the final execution, Jonathan and his team are brilliant to work with and have an amazing eye for detail. Our project was a complete garden renovation. We can’t recommend them enough.”
– Barbara Ellis, Google Review
Completed to a very high standard
“Jonathan and his lads are an excellent team to have on site. We have been in touch with Jonathan since before the pandemic. We wanted a huge job done in our huge back garden and to say they made out vision come to life is an understatement. Jonathan worked very closely with us to tell us what would work what wouldn’t work and gave us his best advice. The job was completed to a very high standard and we can now enjoy the back garden!! I would highly recommend.”
