The Casino was built for the 1st Earl of Charlemont, and has been kept as a heritage site by Heritage Ireland ever since. Meaning “little house,” the casino gives that impression from the outside, but within it houses 16 decorated rooms.

The guided tour is the only tour that is available for the Casino at Marino. The tour will take you through the entire building with a tour guide who is well-informed about the rich history of the pleasure house.
The tour will take around an hour to complete, and you are highly advised to stick with your tour guide throughout the entire tour. You’re not allowed to wander off on your own, as many of the rooms are being preserved by the preservers of the heritage site.

The entrance hall is the main room that you will find yourself in once you enter the Casino at Marino. Here you will be met with a painting of James Caulfield, as well as three doors that will lead to the reception rooms.

The reception rooms are three rooms located on the ground floor of the building. These rooms are the saloon, study, and a spare bedroom. These rooms were said to house guests and were where the Earl received them whenever he was staying here.

The State Bedroom is where the Earl slept whenever he stayed at the Casino at Marino. Here you will find a bed where the earl would sleep during his stays here. There is also a fireplace located just out of reach from the bed.

The Casino Tunnels were where the residents, as well as the servants, would bathe themselves. It also housed the wine cellar, servants’ hall, butler’s pantry, the main pantry, kitchen, and scullery. This is also where the servants slept when staying here.
